200B BIII Suspension Laboratory Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} from H1/HEG. H1/HEG.1/JN.30.6.37. PACKARD FRONT SUSPENSION. 446 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.2/AP.29.6.37. We have analysed the parts submitted and obtained the following results :- Carbon. Manganese. (1) Torque Arm inner forging with boss for bolt. 0.25% SAE 1025 0.41% (2) Torque Arm, main outer pressing 0.11% 0.29% (3) Main Suspension Lever 0.33% S.A.F 1030 0.60% (4) Shock Absorber Arms 0.32% S A.F 1030 0.56% (5) Yoke Piece 0.31% S.A.F 1030 0.59% None of the samples contains nickel or chromium. The composition of (2) is covered by our specification 202A, the carbon content being towards the top limit. (3), (4) and (5) are covered satisfactorily by specification 201 D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (1) does not conform to our specification, but we suggest that 201D would fulfil the purpose quite well.
