SECRET. LEG ANXIOUSLY AWAITING NEWS OF PARTS Copy to:- By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} RHO. HRE. YOKE PIECE AND BEARINGS - FRONT SUSPENSION - BENTLEY III. -------------------------- We send herewith N.Sch.5184 showing the yoke piece and bearings for Bentley III. The yoke piece has been designed on the assumption that the torque may be taken by either of the upper or the lower triangle because with the Packard suspension there is some doubt as to which way the force may go under various circumstances. The lower bearing on the yoke piece is almost identical with the upper bearing of the Wraith III. yoke, with the exception that the clearance between the yoke and the triangle lever bosses has been increased by .025" each side. In order to keep interchangeability of parts we suggest that this increased clearance be applied to Wraith III. as it will be appreciated by the Works. The upper bearing is an exact copy of the Packard, and for the moment consists of an Inlox rubber bearing. The Experimental Dept. are dealing with the whole question of obtaining Inlox bearings or their equivalent in this country. The pivot pin and stub axle may be detailed to take the pivot pin and stub axle shown on the Bentley III. scheme for the wheel and brakes N.Sch.4962. As a matter of fact we shall be re-issuing that scheme to you with slight modification in the course of a few days for this revised Bentley III. car. Att: N.Sch.5184.
