To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}6/MH.{M. Huckerby}26.9.39. WAR TIME & AFTER WAR USES FOR 8-CYL. ENGINE. On Friday I visited T.Worth of the Harborough Aircraft Manufacturing Co. to discuss the uses for our 8-cylinder engine and also whether he could make it during the War. Taking the second question first. He could assemble parts made by subcontractors, but would naturally want to continue making it after the War. If he were only doing it as a wartime job the price would be very much higher. Worth thought that if we find an Admiralty use for the engine the orders would not be 2 or 3 a week, but more probably about 20. People to approach for War applications. Tanks. Major R.W.Day, Mechanisation Board, Woodlea, Virginia Water. Boats. (1) Canter & Nicholson, Gosport. Mr. Charles Nicholson (a friend of Worth's). (2) Curtis, Looe. (3) David Hillyard, Littlehampton. (mention T.C.W.) (4) See Lloyd's Register. Portable Lighting Sets. Chaner Bros. & Co. Ltd., Smethwick. These people are making portable installations for lighting aerodromes. | ||
