by harder foot pressure.

The Bentley, however, during the 'clearing' stage is dangerous, braking absolutely ineffective. This affects the steering by vigorously pulling to one side and then sets up an alarming shudder.

Now that the liner material has been changed and as far as we were able to make tests on this car before delivery the latter feature has been cured, but the two former items still exist, but not so badly.

I arranged with Mr Payton to run the car next day without washing, so that he could appreciate that the brakes normally were entirely satisfactory. The effect of washing he would try out the following day if necessary, and handle on the lines suggested, i.e. braking against the engine power for a short time.
