re Bentley Brake Drums.

I am of the opinion that the best way to make these drums more flexible is to turn down the ribs all the way round. I do not think we should feel the loss of radiation on the front brakes. Putting sawcuts in the ribs appears to be very risky in encouraging fractures since the bending by this method is localised to the place where there is a great change in section. The cuts i had in mind were large half way round pieces milled out of the ribs so as to make the change gradual, but on the whole i think it would be preferable to turn down the ribs until the desired degree of flexibility is obtained.
