Chandler}5/V.16.7.34. Referring to the question of fitting air-wheel tyres to Rolls-Royce chassis, the position is that we have absolutely no experience of this combination whatsoever, as our Experimental Department have not even run tyres of this description experimentally. In view of this and the fact that we know from the experiences we had when changing from high pressure to balloon tyres that it might be extremely dangerous under certain conditions, and this being the case we cannot agree to tyres of this description being fitted to either the 40/50 or 20/25 HP. chassis. If and when we have actual experience of the tyres, and are in the position to pass on information which will be of value, we will make a note to see that you are informed of the position as it develops.
