It is noted from BY/RD.7. of the 11th ult. that it was found that the use of cheaper powder effected a nett saving of 3d. per chassis - this does not appear to be the case according to the prices we have now compiled. It will be observed that the saving is more than 3d. in one item alone.

We cannot at the moment state what the total saving would be taken over all the items in the chassis, but from our previous experience earlier this year, with regard to approximately a dozen items being purchased outside, it was found that when our grade of material was insisted upon the prices rose from 3d. in some of the smaller items to as much as 4d. in the largest item.
