BAKELITE MOULDINGS.

As requested in "BY/RD.S/B.1.6.37" we issued enquiries to four firms for the mouldings given on your list, and we attach hereto details of the prices we have been able to obtain. (Sheet 1. - Brown material). (Sheet 2. - Black material.)

You will note that we have also inserted the R.R. cost and we wish to point out the following:-

The prices from Messrs. De La{L. A. Archer} Rue do not include inserts - we are expecting this additional information daily. In the case of The Witton Moulded Insulation Works, and Birkby prices, inserts are included.

The figures which we have inserted in red against the De La{L. A. Archer} Rue prices and Birkby prices are the alternative figures put forward by these firms; in standard grade Wood Filled Brown Bakelite, by Messrs. De La{L. A. Archer} Rue, and in standard Brown "Elo", by Messrs. Birkby. These will give an idea of the difference in cost of the various parts in our present standard Brown Bakelite, and other standard grades.

You will observe that Messrs. De La{L. A. Archer} Rue only quote a Drill Jig cost for Distributer Cover D.54346 - apparently, one of the moulds they already have suits the part in question. We mention this because of the very considerable disparity in tool costs shown on this item.

We have not yet received any figures from Messrs. Ebonestos Industries Ltd. although they have been strongly urged and have promised information.

As regards delivery we have stated same for two firms - with regard to Witton they state that tools could be made in 5/6 weeks for some of the smaller items, and 7/8 weeks for some of the larger items, but the ultimate promise would depend on the number of patterns ordered from them.

Messrs. De La{L. A. Archer} Rue and Witton state that in the event of an order being placed, it would be necessary for them to consult us with regard to some of the limits which they regard as too close to be moulded commercially.
