Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Std.3/MA. 27th December, 1934. Messrs.F.W.Miller & Co.Ltd., Milama Works, 68, Mansen Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham, 11. Dear Sirs, Referring to your letter of the 20th instant we have received and tested the Bimetal coil to drawing Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 1660 which you sent us. We are returning this coil to you as it appears to bear little resemblance to the coil asked for on Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 1660 - i.e. the position of its ends are not as shown on drawing and the "wind-up" per degree C of temperature rise is approximately one degree (rotation) instead of 6o (rotation) as shown on drawing. Further, if you can produce a coil to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 1660 we should prefer it to "wind-up" instead of unwind with rise of temperature. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
