W.M.H/GN: Your Ref: Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Std.11/KW: January 15th, 1935. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. For the attention of Mr. W.A.Robotham. Dear Sirs, Automatic Mixture Control. We thank you for your letter of the 14th January, and are pleased to hear that the experimental Bentley Mixture Control has proved satisfactory. We note that the capillary tube has come away from the bottom bellows plate, and we are of the opinion that this is due more to the material of which this piece is made rather than to any faulty sweating. We ourselves have had two failures at this point and we mentioned this fact some months ago to Mr. Leslie when he was dealing with this Control. With your permission we would like to dismantle the bellows and remake the bottom plate in brass. If you see no objection to this procedure will you be good enough to let us know immediately? We will make up the second unit without delay and will return both to you for further trial. Yours truly, THE PACKLESS GLAND CO. LTD. | ||
