Will you please arrange to obtain from the Westinghouse Brake & Saxby Signal Co. one Westinghouse metal rectifier set quoted by them as follows :- "For one Westinghouse Metal Rectifier Set Style RP.10.F. to give an output of 6 amperes at 12/14 volts from a 200 volt 50 cycle single phase A.C. supply the sum of £13. 0. 0. This set is illustrated on page 10 of our brochure D.P.11. and will consist of a transformer fitted with an adjustable core for control of current, and rectifier units protected by a heavy gauge perforated sheet metal case, the whole being mounted on an angle iron frame and arranged for wall mounting. A bakelite panel is provided and carries A.C. and D.C. terminals and fuses, main switch and moving coil D.C. ammeter. The above mentioned price is strictly nett and provides for delivery your adress, which could be effected in about 3-4 weeks." The suggestion of utilising one of these was contained in Mr.Royce's note F1/M16.12.29 to which we gave an answer EFC3/ANL.1.30 addressed to R.{Sir Henry Royce} (copies to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} PN.{Mr Northey} Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}). There are, from time to time on the experimental cars, batteries the removal of which for extra charging entails considerable work, and the proposal with regard to this rectifier set is that it could be installed in the garage so that batteries can be charged in position on cars. I have had personal experience of a rectifier unit such as is contained in this set over a period of several weeks, and the unit has behaved perfectly satisfactorily and shown not the least sign of any deterioration.
