Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} x4853 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Nor. C.E. [Struck through: File. Dr.Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}] Head Lamp and Wing Movement on the Bentley. I am in receipt of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/KW.11.10.34 and have carefully noted the results of the series of experiments which you have been carrying on with a view to reducing or eliminating the above feature. I am glad to note that the solution is not to be found through one piece wings as I felt all along that this would be unsatisfactory [Struck through: and] it would be something which we do not necessarily control. With regard to the Stabilising Bumper Bar, I note that E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has been asked to design a bumper on the lines of the one which has proved so successful and is also going into the matter of fixing it and arranging if possible that it can be fitted to cars already delivered. I spoke to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} about this on Saturday as the matter is urgent and I understand that this is appreciated and I sincerely hope that it will be possible to get it on the next 10,000 miles test car. We have one or two customers who are complaining bitterly at the present time of this front movement and of the effect which they consider it has on the steering at high speeds. Sg.{Arthur F.
