This column is for Name of Person addressed. Mr. Johnson, DATE. 29.10.12 Reference Number: N5/E291012 The Experimental Dept. are requiring a Direct Current Motor for driving engines for such work as Crankshaft and Piston tests. We have no suitable variable speed motor here at present, and, I am compelled to borrow one from time to time, from either the Electric Light people or, Messrs. Newton Bros. This is unsatisfactory because of the time spent in obtaining the motor and carting it backwards and forwards. Messrs. Newton Bros. were kind enough to lend us a motor for our testing which they use for driving their train lighting sets. This they required back whilst we were in the middle of our present test on Crankshafts and Pistons, and our tests have, therefore, been stopped. They have promised to lend me another motor towards the end of this week. I wrote Messrs. Royce Ltd., ask- [Handwritten note in left margin, sideways] x75- [Handwritten note in left margin] W Royce for the favour of V-advice J [Stamp] .C 30 X 12 This sheet must be filed with the correspondence to which it refers.
