1166 c. Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}4/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 8th August, 1939. Messrs. Smiths' Jacking Systems, Edgware Road, Cricklewood, LONDON. N.W.2. (For the attention of Mr. D.W. Sessions) Dear Sirs, When you were here the other day we asked you to make us a portable jack more robust than the present Bentley one. We have given this idea further consideration, and suggest the following improvements:- (1) Ball joint at the foot. (2) Reservoir to have a bigger diameter so that the overall length is no greater. To fit the existing thread the reservoir could be a casting. We shall supply a new bracket incorporating a trunnion. We may eventually want rather more than 15" lift, but will start with this amount. Will you please let us know when we may expect such a jack for test. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
