To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} +3807 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}2/KW.22.12.34. Bevel Pinion Bearings. Since we have had another failure of a dural cage in the Bentley pinion bearing we have decided to fit steel cages, one of these having completed 10,000 miles satisfactorily a year ago. Ransome & Marles have sent 6 such bearings for the Exptl. Dept. Will you please fit one in 5-B-IV and in all other Bentley chassis when they are in the shop. The SpectreCodename for Phantom III bearing just returned from the makers with a dural instead of brass cage should be sent back to them for a steel one to be fitted. Will you then please fit same to SpectreCodename for Phantom III No. 2, to run as a comparison with the Hoffmann bearing in 30-EX. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
