Messrs. Vauxhall Motors Ltd.,
LUTON. Beds.

Dear Sirs,

I thank you for your letter 346/GVD/H.18127 of the 22nd instant, and I regret to say that I am unable to appreciate the logic of your observations.

After the first change of differential, you submitted an invoice for £3.4.9d., which was apparently the sum you considered fair and just for the repairs carried out. You now wish to subject me to a charge of 13/10d. plus a further fitting charge, which is entirely due to faulty workmanship on the part of Vauxhall Motors.

I took the trouble to send the car down to Luton in spite of petrol difficulties, and you made the first change over entirely in your own factory.

The failure of the new parts occurred in less than 500 miles and the pieces that failed have been returned to you so that you can draw your own conclusions as to the cause of the failure.

I can hardly believe, however, that you can be satisfied that the failure is in keeping with the reputation of the Vauxhall Company or that, even you were to waive all charges completely, you can be under the impression that this would in any way compensate me for the inconvenience I have suffered.

I do not wish to be unreasonable, but I am sure that you would wish to reconsider your observations.

Yours faithfully,
