Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} PHANTOM III - OIL PUMP DRIVING SHAFT ASSEMBLY. In view of the fact that the above piece has not proved to be reliable as demonstrated by the failure of three chassis in test, fitted with the original scheme, it will be necessary for us to get in touch quickly with all the Phantom III's which have been produced and replace the original scheme with the later model, in which a positive interference fit has been secured by specifying forms and fits on the drawings in such a way as to ensure the serrated shaft having to force the metal on the plain portion up into the serrations to form driving keys.
