EJB/HZI.U.22 IVORY.MY. distance from rear of steering wheel to rear of dashboard. The position is that we have 130 sets of 'B' type control tubes and fittings and the same number of sets of a specially swaged tube having three different diameters - the latter tube costs us 15/- each; W. wish to know whether to scrap these 130 sets and order new ones immediately. It is appreciated that the cushion will have to be harder than the cushion at present in use. The seat at present shows a measurement of 18 1/2" from the floorboard to the top front edge of the cushion not compressed, and 16 1/4" with compressed. The measurements from the floor to the middle of the cushion at the outside edge were 16 1/4" not compressed and 14 1/2" compressed. Back squabbing. This would probably require some alteration to suit the new position of the cushion and this could be arranged with the coachbuilders later on. It was considered very undesirable to make any alteration to the position of the back of the driver's seat, which might necessitate decreasing the space inside the car. Windscreen. The lower half of this is still considered to be too high and generally speaking it was considered that the best position would be for the lower half to be about level with the top of the steering wheel. The top edge of this glass should not be covered with a metal strip. Pedals. These were considered to be satisfactory with the exception that the clutch pedal is far too heavy, and the brake pedal is too high compared with the accelerator pedal and might be dangerous, more especially when driving in heavy traffic. It was found that in using the accelerator pedal the foot had a habit of travelling forward, and it was suggested that this could be prevented by a hole being cut in the foot-board for the heel. A piece was cut out of the footboard to show what was intended, for your consideration. GOSHAWK II OPEN TOURING BODY BY HOOPERS. This was carefully tried and considered by the conference. | ||
