We have received your memo's 22nd and 23/8/33.

I do not propose ~~trying out~~ the Autoflux Petrol Pump on the car until we have completed 10,000 miles. We note your remarks and appreciate that R.A. will not fit a 100% job but will prefer to fit a 50% English job. I dont think you would hesitate a moment between the two pumps, however, if you wish me to send the pump before we have finished our 10,000 miles, I will get Paris to do so, as they know the cost etc.

PISTONS

We appreciate your remarks re. the pistons and probably the alteration to the lands has been the cause. It must be remembered that we are using the gears to a great extent and the engine generally is not having an easy time. The combined speed and heat is more likely to be the cause, together with the lesser dia. of the lands. We do not agree with you re the two top rings. The slot we believe has collapsed, however, you have got four pistons and these could be measured, the inspectors having the necessary drawings etc. The piston ring stops were examined, and we could not find any faults. We are quite satisfied with the gudgeon pin and pieces. There is no sign of any deterioration on the cylinder walls.

WATER AND OIL TEMPERATURES

There has been a big difference in the average air temperature during this run and the one previous; 13°C as against 22°C. During the very cold weather the oil temperature did not rise above the Water temperature. This time it has never been below the Water temperature. We will confirm the Water and Oil temperature when the weather cools off.

RADIATOR

We shall be pleased to try the standard radiator, but let us have it quickly please before it decides to cool off, so that we can get a comparative test, also we can then definately say whether the fan is any good, it is not at the present.
