Dear Mr.Handy,

I thank you for your letter of the 29th February, addressed to Mr.Devereux, in connection with the dural rear axle tube. I am sorry there has been such a long delay, for reasons explained on the telephone, in letting you have a reply.

The upsetting of the Flange at the end is quite a practicable proposition and the best material for this would be "HIDUMINIUM" R.R.56.

The present cost of material would be 4/2d per lb if the material is supplied in random lengths, 4/7d per lb if cut to length and the extra cost of upsetting would be in the region of a 1/-d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} The post-war price would, I imagine, be approximately 20% less.

With regard to the small piece you require for tests, I am endeavouring to find a piece and have it sent to you.

Yours faithfully,

H.G.Herrington,
General Manager.
