(3) Graham-Paige Silencer.

This silencer in its present form is certainly not suitable for a R.R. car, the tail pipe noise is impossible and there are heavy "booms" all the way up and down the speedometer, the one at 33 - 36 M.P.H. forward being particularly bad. It certainly has one good point, the weight of the system when fitted to the car being only 25 lbs. 8 ozs.

With regard to the "tinniness" of both the Graham and A.C. designed silencers, it is rather difficult to form an accurate opinion, because the tail pipe noise makes it rather confusing, but they both seem to be a little worse than the R.R. silencer in this respect, and in all probability the weights of the systems would be increased by the use of lagging or heavier gauge material to bring them up to our standard. The present standard 25 HP. exhaust system complete weighs 67 lbs.

We should like to test these 3 silencers on the Test Bed on a 25 HP. engine unit for power losses.
