Re Exhaust Fumes in Bodies. Chassis No. 2323 - C.S. Steavenson. I regret to say that we have been unable to make satisfactory progress in our attempt to cure the fumes which find their way into the body of this car. Since you were last on the car we have added a ventilator to the roof, and have changed the whole of the exhaust boxes and silencers, but we still get fumes in the car. We have also received a letter from another customer - H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Wheelock Esq., owner of chassis No. 2-PE, extract of which we give below :- "The only other point about the car that I can think of is that I still get a good deal of trouble from the petrol fumes which come from the front. This occurs spasmodically, and I notice it happens after going at fair speed and then on deceleration a whiff of fumes strikes the nostrils. It seems like fumes which have not gone through the engine. About a year or more ago you had the car in for the same trouble. Apart from this troublesome smell I am very pleased with the way the car performs. She is a beautiful car to handle." This car is fitted with an open touring body. I should be glad if you could arrange to go out on the road in these cars. It would be convenient any time if you would give me about ½ hr's notice. I should be glad to have the benefit of any suggestions which you may be able to offer. Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} | ||
