Messrs Rolls Royce Limited.
DERBY.

Attention Mr. F.{Mr Friese} Ll Smith.

Dear Sirs,

We have to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 7th inst, and regret that we did not have an opportunity, during your recent visit, of discussing the question of our 10" Clutch when fitted with Friction Facings of Ferodo No.6. Material, but we are pleased to note that as a result of your trials this material is considered to be very satisfactory from your point of view. [Handwritten note: Is this so? Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}]

We have duly noted your remarks in regard to a quantity of eighteen Ferodo No.6. Friction Facings which were ground too thin, we are accordingly arranging for same to be returned to Messrs Ferodo direct, and furthermore note that Messrs Ferodo are arranging for this quantity of facings to be replaced by twelve No.6. correctly ground, and six in a new material of theirs known as S.6424, which whilst being of an experimental nature is supposed to be of a stronger texture.

Just as soon as this material is to hand we will arrange for the clutches to be built and forwarded to you with a minimum of delay.

Yours faithfully,
BORG & BECK COMPANY LIMITED.
