Dear Sirs,

With reference to the correspondence between us, our Chemists have completed a series of viscosity tests which should give you the information required as far as Motorine C is concerned.

We regret extremely the delay which has occurred in obtaining these figures, and would explain that apart from the tremendous length of time entailed by each test, as you will see from the figures which we give you, our Chemists have been handicapped by the great difficulty in maintaining the jacket water in the viscosity instrument at a low temperature. The work has had to be carried out somewhat spasmodically in our Refrigerating Department. It has been impossible in the Laboratory because of the tendency for the temperature to go up. In effect the oil in the instrument has had to be maintained at a very low temperature for many hours at a time, and there are great practical difficulties in maintaining a consistently low temperature under such circumstances. Doubtless you will appreciate that at the very low temperatures the viscosity readings are necessarily only approximate.

The figures obtained are as follows:-
