The fault appears to have been caused by (a) bad uneven foundation for the secondary winding and (b) flexible connection from primary to secondary being frayed which possibly punctured the paper during winding.
With regard to (a) we are experimenting with coils having a better primary finish and in respect of (b) we are taking up the matter with Mr Brock.
