QUARTERLY COMPLAINTS. -------------------- Referring to Hm {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} 1/KW.9.6.28. there are one or two points which I would like to mention in connection with this matter. 1/- Carburetter Flooding. We fit Stainless steel spindles to overcome this trouble. Apparently the valve seating appears to be a difficulty, and I would like to see one or two valve seats corroded in the manner referred to in your memo. Having seen one of these I may be able to clear this matter up by changing the material. 2/- 20 HP. Noisy Tappets. In addition to the points mentioned we are introducing a better method of lubricating which follows the 40/50 HP. by allowing an excess of oil to trickle down the tappet rods and thereby ensure adequate lubrication of the rollers and pins. In addition we have deleted the holes in the roller pins. 3/- 20 HP. Noisy Engine Gears. We have arranged to fit the intermediate gear on a loose fulcrum which can be slightly moved to accommodate the requirements of the train of gears. BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By | ||
