DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to LHS.{Lord Herbert Scott} c. to O.{Mr Oldham} c. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} re PHANTOM WING STAYS. With reference to DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M.30.4.27. we note that you will send us a drawing showing the correct curvature of the front mud wings as soon as possible to enable us to arrange for the forward and aft wing stays to be produced to meet coachbuilders requirements, but we wish to point out that there is no doubt however that Barkers did not supply us with a set of their standard wings either for EAC.Vlll or EAC.Vll, but were approximately to the curvature shown on N. Sch. 2136. As a matter of fact the inside valances were slightly more vertical than shown on this scheme. We have received a blueprint from Messrs. Barkers showing the curvature of the wings fitted on EAC.Vlll and the curvature of their standard wings, and there is a considerable difference. In addition to these facts when Barkers fitted their own wing stays to Mr. Royce's chassis 7-EX, the wings were quite different to those which they supplied for use with our own wing stays having a much better appearance, and which we imagine are their standard.
