Aprilia S P E C I F I C A T I O N Since 1922 the LANCIA Company carried out, with the LAMBDA Model, the two-fold principle of a frame forming body and of front suspension by independent wheels. The great success of these entirely new and original features have definitely established by over thirty five thousands cars built ever since, and gave a lead in the manufacture of modern Motor Cars. The unique advantages of the older LANCIA Production are greatly improved in the new APRILIA Model: the frame forming body being rationally streamlined and absolutely rigid allows an exceptional reduction in weight, and independent suspension has been extended to the rear wheels. In this way the problem of independent suspension on all wheels has been integrally solved, and the resulting elimination of unsprung parts, together with the absolute rigidity of the whole, gives an exceptionally good road-holding and a smooth riding which we claim have never been obtained so far in any other touring car. The engine, in which the hemispheric shape of the combustion chamber is entirely worked out, and moving parts, such as connecting rods, pistons etc. are made in special high resistance aluminium, develops a very high specific power with very low consumption. Owing to the light weight of the car a very low weight-to-power ratio has been attained, which is unquestionably small for a touring car, and gives outstanding speed and acceleration. The APRILIA Model, therefore, is capable of an exceptionally high cruising speed which so far was possible with racing cars only, such performances being coupled with absolute safety, comfort and economy. | ||
