X1350 Mr. Jacques from EFC. c. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EFC3/AD30.5.30. ENGINE REVOLUTION INDICATORS (SPEED INDICATORY?) In a report from one of our outside men concerning the installation of an aero engine, the following occurs:- "The engine revolution indicators are electrical and quite new to me. They are supplied by the Record Electrical Co.Ltd. Manchester. Have we had any experience of these instruments on test bed recently? If not, would it be possible to obtain one of same from the A.M. and obtain some running experience with it? We have no reason to trust the accuracy and reliability of any electric speed recorder that I have ever used, and as there will be no boost gauges fitted, which would act as a check against speed alteration, I think we ought to know something about them. A possible plan, falling that, would be to run over with a true positive drive instrument and check R.P.M. at gate. This could be accomplished quite easily." You will note that it is suggested that we obtain from the A.M. one of these indicators for test and we should like to have your view of this suggestion and as to whether you concur. In regard to information concerning such instruments we have written to The Record Electrical Co. a letter of which the attached is a copy. EFC. Attached. Copy of letter. | ||
