To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from EH. X.3456 EH1/LG2.12.19. X.3658 - RE BLACK ENAMEL X.3456. We have sent in to Mr. Roscow two quart jars of Summit black enamel. One is "Apex" cylinder black and the other is "Optical" black lacquer. We have tried each of these enamels on a set of cylinder blocks and consider that either of them is a very great improvement over what We are using at present on the cylinders. They give a dull matt black finish which does not rub off and which does not appear to be affected by oil. We consider that it also might be a very good black for the radiators because it is a real dull-black and drys in about 5 minutes. We suggest that you instruct Mr. Roscow to try this on a radiator.
