Test schedule and special feature modifications for Wraith III and B.III engine units.

-2- WRAITH III NO.4 UNIT (a) Bed. This unit ex (b) bed to be fitted whilst B.III is removed. Tests to be carried out are:- (a) Comparison of tulip and std. shaped inlet valves in the small valve head (2nd.). (b) Analysis of power loss to parts on standard wraith exhaust system based on which we are to endeavour to reduce the loss to this system. (c) Investigation of variation in output of std. cylinder heads. WRAITH III NO.4 UNIT (b) bed. Complete power investigation of small valve head as B.III No.1 (a), (b), (c) and (d), then remove for fitting to (a) bed. B.III NO.5 UNIT (b) bed. Unit has following special features and is for endurance. (1) .4 carbon crankshaft. (2) Connecting rods unmachined on panels being forged to size. (3) Vandervell W/M strip main bearings. (4) Tin plated pistons. (5) Valves from Belgrave Engineering Co. Following running in take power curve and then return to shop for:- (1) Inspection of bearings. (2) Fitting of "Monikrome" camshaft. (3) Rockers with W/M bores to be fitted. | ||
