-3- B.III NO.5 UNIT (b) bed - Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} On being returned to test following short running in and repeat power curve, also valve bounde endurance to consist of 20 hours total, each 1 hr. comprising, 30 mins at 4000 r.p.m. 25 " " 4250 " 5 " " 4500 " Each 10 hrs. 7 hrs. full throttle 2 " " " 1 " " " Running to be done on Mobiloil Arctic and Ethyl fuel with air silencer and test bed exhaust system which is equivalent to double exhaust system. Oil inlet to bearings to be varied between 100 and 120°C. Power to be O.K., leaks cured etc. before starting endurance and troubles during run to be recorded. NO. 5 TEST HOUSE. W.III NO.9 UNIT. Unit with flexible flywheel and dynamically balanced crankshaft etc. prior to passing off for car to have following oscillation tests taken:- (a) Crank oscillation in existing form, that is with standard damper. (b) Whether oscillations are transmitted through spring drive, i.e. readings from drive attached to fan pulley. (c) Oscillations in camshaft, drive having been produced to drive indicator off camshaft. (d) Repeat of (c) with camwheel having excessive backlash. (e) Crank oscillation with increased inertia damper. | ||
