1433 To Roy {Sir Henry Royce} /Ms. from EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 1/T1C.4.23. X.4333 - DYNAMO BRUSHES FOR 20 H.P. Answering your RCR/Ms7/DEC6.4.23, we had delivered some Morganite brushes in EC2 and ECO grades for test, but unfortunately these went astray on delivery so that we never had the opportunity of carrying out the tests. Every possible step has been taken by your Mr. Dalman to find these brushes, but without success. We therefore now suggest that we send a further order for brushes in these grades and would like you to obtain three sets in each, i.e. 8 main brushes and 4 control brushes to standard drawings, in each grade, with this difference, however, that the brush pigtails will be fitted with the Morganite patent fibre spiral insulation in place of the glass beads with which the present standard Le Carbone brushes are fitted. We wish to remind you, however, that Mr. Royce is so partial to the Le Carbone brushes, having had such good reports of these from Messrs. Royce Ltd., and also the fact that they are much better to dimensions than the Morganite so that it would be a difficult matter for us to standardise Morganite brushes at any time without overwhelming evidence of their superiority. Therefore it cannot be said that we are taking any steps at the moment to having Morganite brushes standardised. he has the impression that EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} | ||
