y4333 EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 16th April, 1923. AB.67. X.4383. X.4333. MECHANICAL WEAR OF DYNAMO BRUSHES. A standard GoshawkAero EngineCodename for 20HP Car / Aero Engine after KestrelAero Engine dynamo (No.288) has been run at 2500 r.p.m. for 150 hours (equivalent to 5000 miles) with no current flowing, in order to show the extent of purely mechanical wear on the brushes. The brushes were first bedded to the commutator and then measured by micrometer, run through the test and remeasured. The result is that while the brushes and commutator acquired a good polish, no observable wear has taken place. Similar tests are proceeding with the dynamo loaded. F.J.Allen. (sgd) | ||
