re Cotal Gearbox.
Senior Range.

Attached herewith is a print of PL.146 shewing the Cotal gearbox, as provided by Messrs. Wolseley Motors, fitted to any car of the Senior Range.

The scheme is by no means complete as the following items would need design attention.

(1) Pedals and clutch operation.
(2) Rear engine mounting.
(3) Foot brakes without servo.
(4) 1st. and reverse gear column operation.
(5) New position for the hand brake.
(6) Pump for shock damper control.
(7) Larger dynamo output.
(8) Speedometer drive.

This scheme serves to shew the lump in the front floor due to the gearbox. As it is well forward, and not of sufficient width to interfere with the clutch pedal foot of the driver, there is no real objection to it. However, for a 5.6 litre engine the diameter of the box might embarras seriously the drivers left foot.
