RECEIVED

With reference to BY/CCH17/C22927., we would inform you that we now learn that Sales ask for the body guard rail to be moved back .550" in order to leave clearance for cleaning the back panel. This does not apply to the 'twenty' as the rail hinges down.

We therefore suggest that you move the entire wheel and carrier back .550" as shewn on N. sch. 2475 (herewith.)

In order to enable us to fit a petrol tank protecting luggage carrier (see N. sch. 2286.) when specially called for, on N. sch. 2476. (herewith) we shew how this should be modified to go on the same drilling of the frame as for the combined scheme.

Regarding the side carrier for use with the combined scheme, we think you should go ahead with that shewn on N. sch. 2420. This reduces the size of plate to a minimum. We cannot do any more. The wheel should lie at the present height above the frame, and not raised as we indicate on our scheme. Sales have said that they prefer the appearance of a large trough, which they hope to get hidden by a cover when not in use, to that of the raised wheel.

We still await a report from HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} concerning our latest suggestions for the fixing of the centre plate of the rear wheel carrier, (see N. Sch. 2441. despatched 20/8/27)

We think we have now issued all the necessary instructions to enable you to go ahead and standardise:

(1) A rear wheel & luggage carrier.

(2) A revised side wheel carrier.

(3) A revised petrol tank protecting luggage grid.

We understand that the policy is to give away the rear wheel carrier, and to charge for the accompanying grid and side carrier. Only at special request will the petrol tank protecting grid be sold.
