Dear Sirs,

We have received an enquiry from a customer as to whether we could supply a small A.C. or D.C. Generator which would be suitable for flood-lighting work in connection with cinema photography.

We have been asked to arrange to drive the generator at some convenient place on the car. The type of generator he requires is one to run at a speed of approximately 3,000 R.P.M. and which will have a nominal loading of 750 watts for 10 minutes but must be capable of 3000 watts for ½ minute when required. The voltage of the dynamo can be either 100 or 200 or even more if necessary but its size should not exceed 14" long by 7" diameter. It is felt in view of the excessive overload being only required for about 30 seconds, it would be possible to produce a generator of this size fitted with some form of air cooling.

Will you please let us know if such a generator is available or could be produced for this particular purpose.

Yours faithfully,

For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
