X5783 EFC. Sft{Mr Swift}/Mr.Brock. RE :- IGNITION COILS. We have read your report on the Ignition Coil from Chassis No.GLN-15, and note that in the cold condition the Coil operates satisfactorily and that it was only when it was hot that failure occurred. We, therefore, think that the next step in the investigation of this mysterious failure should be to remove the Coil from its case of synthetic material and test it in correspondingly hot conditions without any case at all, or a stabalite case in order to determine whether the material of the coil case has anything to do with the failure. As this particular Coil has been unwound we shall have to wait until another similar Coil is available. If from the foregoing we can still not account for the failure, we suggest that other steps might be made before unwinding the Coil. The symptoms are very similar to the symptoms we used to experience some years ago, when first commencing to use synthetic material for coil cases. BY/RD. BY/RD4/W.1-1-31. X8710.. X5783. | ||
