X5783 COPY. MANN EGERTON & Co. LTD. REPAIR DEPT. 5, PRINCE OF WALES RD. NORWICH. THC/OF/4. February 19th, 1931. X.5783 X.6117. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. Derby. Dear Sirs, Re - 1929 20 HP. Rolls-Royce GLN-61. The owner of the above car, Mr. A.G. Howlett, of Sunnyhill, Thorpe, complains that after a run of about 75 miles the engine commences to misfire. This has been traced to a scale or film that forms on the coil ignition contacts. When the contacts are cleaned the miss disappears until another 75 miles has been done. The ignition coil and condenser have both been tested and no defect has been found with same. The contacts which are of tungsten or similar alloy make good contacts and are not pitted. The fitting of a new pair of contacts does not cure the trouble. We would be very pleased to receive any suggestion which would help us to overcome this fault which is causing our client considerable inconvenience. Awaiting the favour of your esteemed reply. We are, Yours faithfully, | ||
