R.R. 403A (40 H) (SL 42 12-7-23). J.H., D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expl. No. 9771 REF: HES/LGT.19.10.23. OIL PUMP. The bearings in the brass casing were badly worn and seem to be small for the pressures. DISTRIBUTOR DRIVE. [DIAGRAM showing DISTRIBUTOR DRIVE, FIBRE WASHER, IDLER WHEEL] As in the case of the oil pump drive the distributer drive indicates that it had been running heavily on the fibre washer. Probably, again, due to the difference of expansion between steel and aluminium and not sufficient clearance to compensate for this. MAIN BEARINGS. These were in fair condition with the exception of bottom half of No.7 which was cracked. The crankshaft, camshaft, camshaft bearings, cams, cam followers and tappet guides were all in good condition. The cylinder water jackets leaked slightly at the tappet guide tubes. A.C.L. | ||
