1293. 1305 EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HFP.4/JH. 4th. July, 1939. Howard Graham Ltd., Tiddington Road, Stratford-on-Avon. Harris Flexible Bearings. Your ref. HCW/DMC.3882. Dear Sirs, file 1305 With reference to our letter Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}7/MH.{M. Huckerby} there are two more schemes in which we should like to use Harris bushes. We enclose drawing FCD.1099 which shows the linkage for the rear shock absorber; we should like to use Harris bushes in place of the 'Silentbloc' bushes, which are at present in use, if they will give a better life. The bushes have been marked A.B.C. on the drawing and the data you require is tabulated for each bush. However as most of this data is obtained from the above drawing you will be able to check most of it for yourselves. Bush A.{Mr Adams} (1) Type of motion. Simple rotation. (2) Static load, none. Shock load ± 150 lbs. (3) Angle of motion 60°. (4) Pin and eye dimensions. These are not rigidly fixed but should be of the same order as those shown on the drawing. (5) Amount of Axial twist. small. (6) Limits imposed on torsional stiffness. None. (7) Maximum allowable deflection of bearing. Must prevent metal to metal contact. | ||
