Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} WRAITH COST REDUCTIONS 8.2.37. Saving. The first chassis 24.G.Vl.{V. Lewis / Mr Valentine} has. - (1) Cheaper spring drive. Not known. (2) Cheaper axle tubes. about 30/- Further possible cost reductions are - (1) Gearbox Internal material mods. 6/- L.5. casting. 8/- Un-ground gears. 58/- Soft splined gears. } Not known. Un-lapped cones. (2) Prop. shaft Hardy-Spicer type. 30/- (3) Jacks Smiths. £7. 0. 0. (4) Rear axle Increased hypoid lightened axle. Not known. The following are modifications which we intend to incorporate as soon as possible:- (7) Cam tube built up from two pieces either by butt welding or by brazing, instead of tube with butted end. 12/- (8) Subject to steering characteristics allowing it, replacing sprung joint at rear end of side steering tube by rigid joint, as at front end. 7/- Other possible modifications are as follows:- Modified equalizers, to reduce the number of parts, and also cost. continued | ||
