To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}E.Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} Experimental Body having Improved Ingress to the Bentley Driving Seats. Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/KW.7.4.36 you will remember that at a recent conference I asked for a programme of work proposed on the Bentley between the present 4 1/4-litre and what we know as Bentley III and this list was duly prepared. On looking through it I cannot see anything which would necessitate a new experimental chassis over and above those you already have prior to Bentley III. Your memo. says that there will be nothing to prevent this body being fixed to a boxed-in frame should this prove to be a success. If I remember correctly, the boxed-in frame experiment which we saw being prepared had a body on it. I thoroughly agree that a body incorporating the improvements should be built. My only point is what chassis it should be built for. If there is not an experimental chassis on which it can be usefully used, then we can easily arrange to bring it through on a chassis for stock, i.e. make it an ordinary saleable car which we cansell after we have all inspected and tried the result of the modifications.
