c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} File DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}7/G.17.2.36. WRAITH 111. CHASSIS. LOD. Please receive herewith blueprints of G.CD.392 Stay - Gearbox Extension to Cruciform Member. This scheme shows a tie rod for use with the gearbox crossmember with rubber isolating block shown on G.CD.162. The design of the tie rod follows that shown on G.CD.324 for Bentley 111, and has a channel section pressing, with the stay made as an eye-bolt. As on Bentley 111 the tie-rod is isolated from the crossmember by means of rubber blocks. This design has been held up partly because of doubts as to the need of a stay at all, and partly because the attachment to the cross may produce noise in spite of the rubber isolation. As the need for a stay is now agreed upon and the noise trouble may not arise, we suggest this scheme should be detailed and issued for an experimental set. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
