84117 To C. From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/MJ.18.6.32. 58-WJ. - Thomas. Replying to C.11/C17.6.32. We agree with Mr. Thomas's criticism re. brakes. The cars he mentions are more or less the racing car type and we should expect them to have a higher percentage of front braking. For really high speed work with a good driver this is an advantage, but when we are making a general performance motor-car to suit all classes of owners and drivers we have not sufficient evidence to alter our present ratio. As regards ribbed brake drums, these are being standardised for.40/50 and 25 HP. cars as soon as possible. If this customer is a keen critic on brakes you might consider it policy for us to alter his car in the same way as we have done Mr. Fairey's car, Mr. Thistlewaite's, and Kaye Don's.
