Water Temperature Thermometer Replying to your memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.9/AP.8.3.38, the starting handle can be entered and operated with the engine at the limit of its travel. This handle is most satisfactory and much appreciated after the previous types used on our cars. The water temperature thermometer has failed at the point where the capillary is soldered into the bulb. This may have been strained when fitting to clear the R.R. distributor, but it is a point at which previous thermometers of this and previous types have failed. A guide bush, as fitted to the Negretti thermometers would prevent the soldered joint being strained in fitting and has been suggested before. The radiator steam valve is proving most satisfactory in preventing loss of water and recommends itself for production. --------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M.
