BENTLEY CLUTCH.

With reference to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler}29.6.38., we have investigated the position of Chassis fitted with black painted clutch springs giving excessive pedal loading, and find it will be necessary to change springs on 9 complete chassis, 3 assembled engines and 10 partly assembled engines.

The total cost of this work including charges will be £19. 4. 0d., which includes re-setting of clutch fingers after fitting new springs.

This case is typical of troubles constantly experienced with units purchased from Outside Suppliers. In order to minimize the occurrence of these difficulties and their consequent dislocation of production it seems our logical recourse is to be more exacting in holding the makers to definitely stipulated specifications.
