6 1/2" Tyres - Bentley.

Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}12/KW28.10.37.

You will have seen JLE{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager}'s report on the result of the tests he made, but we are not convinced yet that there is any need to turn this matter down definitely because we know that JLE{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager}'s tests are possibly rather more severe than would be the case in the hands of a normal customer.

I also remember your telling me that the tyres which JLE{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager} tried, and which were not India, were slightly bigger than the standard India 6 1/2" which would be used.

We have therefore arranged for Db{Donald Bastow - Suspensions} to have a pair of these wheels fitted to the back of his 4 1/4 litre Bentley with standard all-steel body, and shall be glad if you will please send a pair of wheels and standard India tyres such as you would propose to adopt for "M" series for him to use for a while in the normal way, and he will report on them as time goes on.

There is just one point to bear in mind. If Db{Donald Bastow - Suspensions} had a puncture and had to change his wheel would it matter very much for the purpose of getting home if he had a 5 1/2" tyres on one side and a 6 1/2" on the other on the back axle ? If it would matter then we should have to let him have five wheels and tyres so that he had the same size all round.

Will you please let me know what you will arrange, and have the wheels and tyres sent to LH.{Mr Haworth}
