My dear Oy,

It is a long time since I wrote to you but we are always very interested in your letters. I see all those, of course, which pass between you and Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}

I have, by means of a gigantic wangle, been able to arrange for Mr. Coverely to visit U.S.A. He has always been anxious to have a trip round and I am sure it will be profitable both to him and to the Company.

The old feeling that R.R. can do no wrong and have nothing to learn, still exists in certain quarters here. Fortunately just at the present time this is being encouraged by swarms of people ordering R.R. cars. Recently we have added considerable extensions to the factory. It was only a short time ago we were resigned to the fact that the size of the factory was increased in the war and that we could never expect to fill it.

For the last eight weeks we have been averaging sales of 45 cars a week - 25 25HP's., 15 Bentleys, 5 Phantom 11. For the last eighteen months business has been good. On top of this we are supplying about 70% of the engines to the Air Ministry.

We have no explanation or reasons for this burst of business. Over 90% of the sales are in England. All the foreign business is still very dull.

We are just going through the stage now of having to appreciate the stability of Royce. Whilst the money is rolling into the till there is not much anxiety to the
