-6- Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} 30. THRUST RACE FAILURES. No further progress can be reported on this for the moment. 31. S.U.CARBURETTORS. It has been proved that the standard B.V. car is about 2 1/2 m.p.g. worse at high average speeds than the B.II. car. This is regarded as being the most important experimental job at the moment and the tests will take priority until the matter has been satisfactorily settled. 32. NEW TYPE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBERS - SENIOR RANGE. A new pair of these are running now in the Ripple. 33. WATER PUMPS. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Col. reported that the Morgan Stuart gland water pump had run 86 hours on the rig without trouble and he considered that all the failures except one on this type of pump had been due to bad assembly. At the completion of the 100 hours the original water pump will be put on the rig to see whether it fails within a reasonable space of time. 34. SERVOS. The Vandervell lining has been turned down. No lining has been found better than the present standard. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/MHR.{M. H. Rigby} is now concentrating on judders. 35. SMALL CARS. The Morris and the Vauxhall engines and gearboxes have been stripped. A weight analysis is being made and also main dimensions obtained. These should be included in the log-books of the cars and incorporated in the final reports on their behaviour. The Myth gearbox design will be reviewed in the light of the results obtained from the Morris before anything is instructed to be made. - Continued - | ||
